(a) Sketch the graph of $y=|2x-3|$, stating the coordinates of any points where the graph meets or cuts the coordinate axes. [2]

(b) Solve the equation $$|2x-3|=5-x$$ [4]

The diagram shows a sketch of the curve with equation $y=\mathrm{f}(x)$, $x\in\mathbb{R}$. The curve has a maximum turning point at $P(-2,6)$ and a minimum turning point at $Q(3,-4)$. The curve has no other turning points and continues indefinitely in both directions as shown.

(a) State the coordinates of the stationary points on the graph of $y=|\mathrm{f}(x)|$. [2]

(b) State the coordinates of the points to which $P$ and $Q$ are mapped on the curve with equation $y=2\mathrm{f}(x-1)+3$. [3]

(c) Find the set of values of $k$ for which the equation $\mathrm{f}(x)=k$ has exactly three real roots. [2]

Given that $a$ is a positive constant, the function $\mathrm{f}$ is defined by $$\mathrm{f}(x)=2|x+a|-3a,\quad x\in\mathbb{R}$$

(a) Sketch the graph of $y=\mathrm{f}(x)$, showing the coordinates of the vertex and of any points where the graph meets the coordinate axes, in terms of $a$. [3]

(b) Solve, in terms of $a$, the equation $\mathrm{f}(x)=x+a$. [4]

(c) State the set of values of $k$ for which the equation $\mathrm{f}(x)=k$ has no real solutions. [1]

The diagram shows a sketch of the curve $C$ with equation $y=(x+1)(x-3)^{2}$ and the straight line $l$ with equation $y=9-3x$.

(a) Write down the coordinates of the points where $C$ meets the coordinate axes. [2]

(b) Using algebra, find the coordinates of all the points where $l$ meets $C$. [4]

The curve with equation $y=f(x-a)$, where $f(x)=(x+1)(x-3)^{2}$ and $a$ is a constant, passes through the origin.

(c) Find the two possible values of $a$. [2]
